Illinois Crusaders Football FAQ
Who can play for the Illinois Crusaders?
The Illinois Crusaders are a club high school football program for athletes in 8th through 12th grade. We are open to homeschool, private school, and public school students seeking a competitive football program.
Is this a school team?
No. The Illinois Crusaders are a club football program, not a school-sponsored team. This allows players from different school backgrounds to participate in one program.
Are there tryouts?
We do not hold traditional tryouts where players are cut from the program. We evaluate players throughout the offseason and practice season to determine their best position, development needs, and role within the team.
When does the season start?
Our full season practices begin July 27. Before that, we hold offseason workouts during the summer to help players prepare.
When are offseason workouts?
Offseason football workouts are held on Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 5:30 PM to 6:30 PM and run through July 24.
When are in-season practices?
During the season, practices are typically held Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday from 5:30 PM to 7:30 PM.
Where are practices held?
Practices are held at Crossroads unless otherwise communicated by the program.
When are games played?
Games are typically played on Saturdays 2:00 PM at Aurora Central Catholic. The full game schedule will be communicated to families before and during the season.
How long does the season last?
The season begins with full practices in late July and can run through November, depending on the game schedule, playoffs, and the national tournament.
Are there fundraising opportunities?
Yes. We offer fundraising opportunities to help families offset the cost of the season. One of our main fundraisers is the calendar fundraiser, where players sell days on a 31-day calendar.
Does my player need previous football experience?
No. Previous football experience is helpful but not required. We are looking for players who are coachable, committed, and willing to work.
What equipment does my player need?
Players will need basic football gear, including cleats and practice clothing. Specific equipment requirements will be communicated before full practices begin.
How does communication work?
The Parent Portal and team communication channels are the primary ways we share updates. Families are expected to stay up to date on schedules, deadlines, payments, documents, and program announcements.
What documents are required?
Families should be prepared to submit required player documents such as medical information, physical forms, transcripts, and other registration items requested by the program.
What makes the Illinois Crusaders different?
The Illinois Crusaders are committed to building a high-standard football program centered on faith, discipline, preparation, development, and brotherhood. Our goal is to help young men grow as football players and as people.
How do we get started?
Families interested in joining should complete the interest form or contact the program directly. Once we receive your information, we will provide next steps for workouts, registration, payments, and required documents.
